Grange art exhibition at Denbies
12th January 2017
A silk painted, embroidered shell, vibrant print designs, string and ink art – these are some of the beautiful designs by Grange artists that will go on display at an exhibition sponsored by Denbies Wine Estate from 21 -26 March.
Over 40 artists from our Creative Arts & Textiles department will see their work on display including paintings, collages, prints and hand-made craft items, many of which are for sale.
‘We’re delighted Denbies has offered us this opportunity,’ said Helen Hughes, Senior Creative Textile Tutor. ‘The artists we support are producing high-quality work on a par with other local artists and they deserve a wider audience.’
The Grange’s Creative Arts team are gaining a reputation in their for their innovative work, particularly yarnbombing installations. Last Summer, the team covered the entrance to the G-Live building in Guildford with colourful knitting to celebrate the DAiSY Festival, an event featuring artists with a disability. They’ve been invited to create an installation for Woking Arts Festival in 2017 and have had works in various other galleries including Lightbox in Woking and the University of Surrey.
‘One thing we really enjoy,’ says Helen Hughes, ‘is running zentangling workshops where the tables are turned and people we support get to teach members of the public how to do this relaxing form of ‘mindful doodling’.
The Grange exhibition runs from 21 to 26 March from 9.30am to 5.30pm at Denbies Wine Estate, London Road, Dorking RH5 6AA.
Work will be on sale at prices around £60 and artists will be on hand to talk about their work. Why not combine it with a visit to Denbies vineyard, café and shop?
