What we do
The Grange is a registered charity based in Bookham in Surrey. We provide a range of high quality services to adults with disabilities including accommodation, training in life and social skills, and opportunities to work.
Training:
We focus on what people can do, not what they can’t and we constantly strive to tailor our services to meet our clients’ changing needs. Currently we offer training in the following skills:
- Creative Arts and Textiles
- Horticulture
- Catering
- IT Skills
- Woodwork
- Key Skills
- Retail
Many of our clients have work experience places and – thanks to their own determination and abilities – several have gone on to achieve paid employment.
Head Office
Our Head Office is based in a large Victorian house and provides high quality professional administrative, financial and facilities support to all our clients. Staff training is based here.
Most of our 79 clients live on site:
- Residential Care – we have a registered care home with 22 residents
- Supported living – 32 clients live in flats on site with support
A further 12 people are tenants in our flats in Bookham and 13 clients live with their families or in their own homes and come in on a daily basis for training.
To provide these services The Grange functions as:
- A Skills Training Centre
- A Housing Association (No. H3727)
- A Registered Care Home (No. 210) - Monitored and inspected by CQC
- A Company limited by guarantee and registered in England (Companies Act) No. 348341
- A Registered Charity No. 207740
- The Grange is recognised as an Investor in People and is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board
Our mission
Our mission is to be an organisation where people with disabilities are respected and encouraged to achieve their potential. We want everyone at The Grange to participate as equals and be treated with courtesy and dignity. Everyone here has the right to be involved in making choices about their own lives and is encouraged to take responsibility for themselves.
We welcome applications from adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and combinations of both, for residential placement and day services.
