Catering Training

We two have training kitchens at The Grange.
The Granary kitchen was opened in 2009 as a domestic training kitchen. Here clients can join cooking sessions and learn recipes to cook in their own homes.
Our second kitchen is a dedicated catering kitchen in the main house where clients are directly involved in preparing food for events such as our annual Open Day and our Festival.
Qualifications
To date ten clients have been awarded an in-house Food Hygiene Certificate and several more people are working towards it. We are inspected by Environmental Health and accurate records are kept.
Assessment
Assessment of each client is ongoing. Basic methods of cooking are well practised and high standards are reached. The successful training process has led several people onto external work experience opportunities.
Skills
Skills for life are embedded in the sessions with emphasis on health and safety, food hygiene, equality and diversity.
Teamwork
Clients are encouraged to work as a team and reminded that courtesy and thoughtfulness towards each other are key.
