The Grange has a long established reputation for creative stitch and innovative art and crafts. Professional tutors, supported by dedicated volunteers, offer a high standard of skills training in creative arts and textiles.
The aim of the creative arts and textiles department is:
- To support and develop each individual client to achieve their maximum potential within Creative Arts and Textiles.
The objectives of the department are that every client would be able:
- To explore their creative skills
- To develop strengths and interests in creative skills
- To produce an end product and recognise the process in a piece of creative work
- To participate as an individual or within a group
Basic skills
Clients have the opportunity to build on their existing basic skills in literacy, numeracy and IT using the creative projects in the department as a vehicle with which to do so.
Clients use a wide range of techniques to create bespoke items such as machine embroidered designs, canvas work cushions, hand quilted nursery covers, cross stitched designs, framed paintings and rugs. Other creative projects include knitting, tapestry, hand dyeing and felting. All projects encourage imagination and originality, using photography and technology as an assistive tool. We like to work with a range of inspiring colours and materials.
Our clients’ work is sold in our shop in Bookham village, The Grange at No.5.
