The US Group was set up two years ago as a forum for people using our services to discuss issues with trustees and management.
Initially, it was staff-led until we learned how to reduce the staff role and let the people we support take the reins.
US Group meetings are now well attended with standing room only, even for trustees! US Group Chair, David Elliott, canvasses opinion among people we support and draws up the agenda. Just one staff member is on hand to help people express themselves using Makaton or a letterboard.
As a result, people using our services are now more confident about speaking out in this and other forums. The US Group has made some excellent suggestions for improvements including:
