Horticulture Training
We provide adults with physical and learning disabilities training in gardening skills all year round.
Our qualified tutors are supported by a team of volunteers and together they offer around 30 clients training in gardening skills.
Chemical free fruit and vegetables are grown in the Victorian walled garden. Potted herbs, annuals and perennials are cultivated in the poly tunnel, greenhouse and rose and herb areas. Garden maintenance skills are developed throughout the site. Certificates of achievement are awarded to people at every level, from planting seeds to using a hedge trimmer.
Work experience:
- Clients are encouraged to achieve paid or voluntary jobs in the community as part of a varied weekly programme.
- Retail experience is offered in our shop on site where plants, fruit and vegetables are sold to the general public.
- The garden team offers a professional garden maintenance service to the public as part of the work experience programme.
