Tenants Accommodation with Living Support

This is in a mixture of modern-built and converted premises on The Grange site in Rectory Lane and in Edenside Road, Bookham. The Grange flats are grouped around the communal sitting room and the staff office in Magnolia Lodge. We have 15 acres of attractive grounds, a heated swimming pool and other leisure facilities.

Living support

The Living Support Team provides continuing support to clients in their own accommodation including:

  • Regular visits to monitor well being
  • Assistance with daily living skills
  • Helping to improve home environment
  • Guidance with health issues
  • Encouraging social and community links
  • Encouraging leisure pursuits - accessing facilities, planning holidays
  • Linking with other services - eg. Health, Education, Police
  • Assistance with Welfare Benefits advice and claims
  • Liaising as necessary with family and relatives
  • Providing a daytime emergency service and liaison with night time emergency call centre

Current Accomodation

At present we have eleven purpose-built single-bedroomed flats and eleven studio flats on site, let on an assured short-hold tenancy basis. A number of the flats are adapted to wheelchair use. These are primarily but not exclusively, provided for people who are receiving skills training or work experience here. An increasing number of tenants now go out to paid employment.
In addition we have four training flats with a total of nine places, offering single rooms with shared living facilities. These are allocated on a trainee basis to disabled people who receive additional training and support in preparation for becoming tenants of a semi-independent flat. Two training flats are adapted for wheelchair use.
We also have, under our management, four warden-controlled studio flats in a setting on the edge of Great Bookham, for those tenants who wish to live in the community. Other tenants have moved into accommodation managed by other landlords and still have support from staff in the Living Support Team.
All tenants and trainee tenants have alarm-call access to our team of Living Support Staff during the day time and to an emergency call centre at night.

Tenant Representation

There is a well-established tenants' committee, and representation from that committee is made to the Consultative forum that advises the Trustees of the charity on future developments and issues of the day. Regular reviews take place with each tenant and licensee with progress and changing needs monitored on a regular basis by their keyworker and the staff team. We encourage as much independence as possible, but offer individual support to ensure that each person has a good quality of life.

The Association is a registered Social Landlord.
