In 1938, Miss Julia Sweet moved her pioneering School of Stitchery and Lace to The Grange at Bookham where she taught women with disabilities a trade. 

On 14 July 2018, we'll be celebrating 80 years of support for people with disabilities with a good old-fashioned fete. From 11am-3pm, there will be:

  • Music from live bands
  • Classic cars and bikes
  • Meet the owls in the Walled Garden 
  • Stalls and games 
  • Face painting & Creative activities 
  • Bottle Tombola and Grand Draw 
  • Bar and food stalls
  • Tea and cake in the ballroom
  • Drumming
  • 1938 quiz 
  • Kids' trail - collect stamps for a prize
  • Heritage exhibition
