Rosemary, Rosie M, Lucy, Lottie, Alice and Jessica D. took to the River Wey recently for a special barge trip. The group sailed from Guildford to Godalming and stayed overnight on board. The Angel Blue is a magnificent 63-foot canal boat that voyages down the River Wey Navigation and the River Thames.
‘We had a great time learning how to work locks,’ said Brenna, who is our Activities Co ordingator. ‘We also had to get off and pull the barge off the mud on occasion.’
The trip was made possible by Surrey Outdoor Learning & Development based in Mickleham. The organisation is committed to achieving positive personal development through outdoor experiences that challenge the mind and body. The experiences help people to discover more about themselves by developing personal, social, emotional, physical and key skills.
‘Our group really began to work as a team,’ said Brenna,’ we also had the most wonderful weather which helped everything.’
