Outdoor Learning Facility Exhibition

Over the last year we have been developing plans for new facilities adjacent to our much-love Walled Garden. These would provide more flexible, comfortable and eco-friendly learning spaces for our Skills for Life programme.  We also hope to include a café and shop to provide jobs for people we support in an authentic retail setting, and a pottery which can be used for skills sessions and community hirings alike.  And we will take the opportunity to enhance the presentation of our lovely eight acre site.  We have recently submitted an application for planning consent, and it has been assigned the reference number MO/2021/1972.

We are holding a five day exhibition at The Grange for people who would like to know more about our plans – Bookham Residents’ Association, neighbours, councillors, our volunteers and families, and so on. Everyone is welcome to come.

We have chosen to stage the exhibition at the start of Disability History Month, in view of the importance of this development in the life of our 80-year old history in Bookham. It will be open from 9.30am to 4.30pm from Monday 22 November to Friday 26 November, with an additional early evening opening from 6pm to 8pm on Monday 22 November at which two of our Trustees and the architect will be present. The exhibition will be in the Lumley Lounge, just off the Reception Area.

Please try to ‘travel green’ to the site. If you come by car, take the entrance marked ‘staff and accessible parking’ and then park in a visitor bay opposite the main house. Sign in at Reception and you will be shown the way to the Lumley Lounge.

There is no need to book yourself in, but if you would like to see our Heritage Room at the same time as you view our future plans – reflecting back on our past history – please let me know and I will arrange for a colleague to show you around.

I hope we will see some of you during the week also enhancing the presentation of our lovely 8 acre site in the area adjacent to our much-loved Walled Garden.
