About the role

Healthy Living is at the forefront of everyone’s minds these days. Here at The Grange we want to do our best to encourage and promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle for everyone. In order to build on the great work being done by our teams, we are looking to appoint someone on a part time basis for 6-months to pilot a new role.  Our Healthy Living Co-ordinator will plan and drive forward the many opportunities that are open to us and the people we support, working across the organisation and in partnership with external businesses and organisations. 

 To provide support for people with learning disabilities in their own homes (on site and off), with a particular focus on building independence and encouraging healthy choices in the planning, preparation, eating and storing of food. 

  • Providing support for menu planning and budgeting
  • Offering creative and accessible guidance on food, drink and snack choices
  • Supporting shopping trips, including raising awareness of food labelling and alternatives when in the supermarket or doing on-line shopping and making budget-appropriate selections
  • Gathering ideas from people we support, on how and when they wish to eat meals and whether alone or with others
  • Being fully informed about any individual’s eating difficulties, special diets and food preferences before offering support for further healthy eating initiatives.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience


  • Good cooking skills/experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene
  • Good all-round understanding of healthy eating principles and practices
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working patterns


  • Experience of social care sector
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Nutrition Qualification
