When the Stonegate Foundation, the Dorking-based charity with close ties to Stonegate Homes, approached us to make table decorations for their annual fundraising ball, our Fundraiser, Marion, and the creative arts team got together and thought of making miniature houses.
In fact they made a whole estate – 50 houses, every one with a different theme, from Mr Blobby to Snow White and the Telly Tubbies.
‘We thought they looked rather like the house in the famous film ‘UP!’, says Senior Creative Arts Tutor, Helen Hughes, ‘so we added little balloons. Then we went mad and put lights inside and some sample Grange products such as jam, cards, a mug, a flannel and fudge.’
Over 300 local business people attended the ball in the Walled Garden of Loseley House, Guildford, and took part enthusiastically in a fun auction led by former Channel 5 sports presenter, Jonny Gould.
‘The houses were very much the talk of the night,’ says Robbie Arthur of Stonegate Homes who organised the event, ‘it was clear just how much time and effort had gone into making every single one of them. It is an honour to work alongside The Grange and be able to support such a great charity.’
