Christmas concert is a sell-out success Eighties-style Christmas songs, wonderful soloists, readings by actress Deborah Grant and the Chair of Surrey County Council, the Christmas story in Makaton, Martinau brass band with drums from Grnaeg tutor Barry) - our 80th anniversary concert had the lot! And all led by our Musical Director, Ian Assersohn and Accompanist Jan Assersohn. The concert, held at The Menuhin Hall, Stoke D'Abernon, was a showcase for all the talent we have at The Grange. Our choir includes people we support and singers from local choral societies all kept in order by Ian. This year was particularly special as our concert was kindly sponsored by Cllr Tony Samuels, Chair of Surrey County Council. Cllr Raj Haque, Chair of Mole Valley District Council, also attended. Soprano Charlotte Rowling got a standing ovation for her beautiful performance of 'Walking in the Air' as did Luke and Felix for their voice and saxophone duet of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'. Elizabeth Taoka and Tutor Sue Lee impressed everyone when they told the nativity story using Makaton signing. Goodbye and thank you, Ian and Jan This year's concert was the last to be conducted by Ian Assersohn and we are so grateful to him, and to accompanist Jan Assersohn, for their tremendous support, patience, and good humour over the last nine years. They have opened up the fun of singing in a choir to many people we support at The Grange. Thank you donors! Thanks to our very generous audience, we raised nearly £1,000 from donations and sales of Grange Christmas cards, mugs, fudge, etc and that's before ticket sales! We'll keep you informed when we have the final figure. Thank you everyone who was involved in this fantastic event.
