In Creative Arts, but we believe everyone is creative in some way. It’s just a question of finding out what that is!

Our professional tutors are trained to help you find what you’re good at. We cover machine embroidered designs, canvas work cushions, weaving, framed paintings and rugs.

Other creative projects include knitting, tapestry, hand dyeing and felting. We like to work with a range of inspiring colours and materials.

Much of what we make is sold in our shop Grange@no.5 in Bookham where you can learn retail skills such as dealing with money and customers and  taking orders.

Photography and film animation

Besides traditional skills, we’ve also branched out into digital photograph, film animation and graphic design and we’re exploring designs for packaging, cards and wrapping paper.

See our film where we animated little hats we knitted for the Innocent Smoothie Big Knit

Mug press machine

Thanks to a donation from the Worshipful Company of Broderers we now have a mug press. You can design and make any mug you like. This has turned into a mini business with orders coming in for special birthday and anniversary mug sets. The photo shows our first mug design which we presented to our Patron Joanna Lumley.

ASDAN accredited

Besides improving your creative skills, you’ll also build on your literacy and numeracy skills, learn how to get organised and be punctual, work in a team and use IT – all important skills than can be used in the workplace. You can work towards accredited courses in ASDAN Towards Independence.

Grange Art Exhibition

We love going to art exhibitions but last year we held one of our own at Denbies Wine Estates in Dorking.

Over 40 artists submitted 100+ creative works including silk painting, prints, watercolours and jewellery and many were sold.

This watercolour by Dick in Residential Care was snapped up.

Creative in the Community

We love getting out of the studio to work with and be inspired by other artists. We took part in the DAiSY Arts Festival at G-Live in Guildford and produced a yarnbombing installation for Party in the Park in Woking (see photo left)

Other events are Surrey Artists Open Studios, National Doodle Day, the Big Draw and Mencap Christmas Card Design competition.
